Effective 27 September 2026

Pure Bible is a Catholic Bible app made by Asaf Huseyn (“I”, “me”). This policy explains what the app does with information about you. The short version: Pure Bible has no account, no advertising and no tracking. Your notes and bookmarks go to your own iCloud, and I cannot see them. Apart from that, the app sends one anonymous count a day so I know how many people read it.

On your device

These stay on the device and never reach me: your reading position, your settings (editions, language, theme, typeface, notification choices), the chapter shown in the widget and the text read aloud. Read aloud uses the voices built into your device.

In your iCloud

Your bookmarks, notes, reactions and recently read chapters sync to your other devices through the private database of your own iCloud account. Apple stores this data under the Apple Privacy Policy. I have no access to it. If you turn off iCloud for Pure Bible, the data stays on the device only. If you delete the app’s data from iCloud (Settings › Apple Account › iCloud › Manage Storage), it is removed from Apple’s servers.

Anonymous usage count

Once a day, App Store versions of Pure Bible save one record in the app’s CloudKit public database, which is stored by Apple. The record contains:

  • a random identifier created on the device, kept in its keychain so that reinstalling the app does not count as a new device. It is not derived from your Apple Account, name, email, phone number or any hardware identifier;
  • the date, and the date the device was first counted;
  • the app version and build;
  • the editions you read, and whether two translations are shown side by side;
  • the interface language, theme and typeface;
  • the kind of device (iPhone, iPad or Mac), its model and its iOS version;
  • how many times the app was opened that day and for how long, with any single visit counted as three hours at most;
  • the country of your App Store.

The record never contains what you read, write, bookmark or react to. It does not contain your location, contacts or any advertising identifier, and it is never combined with data from other apps or websites. CloudKit also marks every record with an identifier that is specific to this app and your iCloud account. That identifier does not reveal your name, email or Apple Account to me.

I use these records only to know how many people read Pure Bible, and which editions, languages and devices are worth maintaining. Devices without an iCloud account, TestFlight builds and builds made for development do not send them.

Notifications

Nothing is sent until you turn it on in Settings › Notifications in the app.

  • The verse of the day, the feasts and the reminder after a week away are scheduled on your device from the Bible you read. No information leaves the device for them.
  • News from Pure Bible: when you turn this on, the app saves a subscription in the app’s CloudKit public database. The subscription records your interface language, so news reaches you in your language. When I publish news, Apple’s CloudKit and Apple Push Notification service deliver it to every subscription. I do not see who receives it. Turning the switch off deletes the subscription.

Donations

Donations are handled by Apple through In-App Purchase. I receive no payment details and no information that identifies you. Apple only reports the number and amount of purchases to me.

Email

If you write to me, I use your message and email address only to reply. I do not add you to any list.

What Pure Bible does not do

  • It has no account and no sign-in.
  • It contains no advertising, no analytics and no other third-party code.
  • It does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
  • It does not sell or share information about you with anyone.

Children

Pure Bible is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the European Union and the United Kingdom), you may have the right to access, correct or delete information about you, or to object to its use. I rely on legitimate interest for the anonymous usage count. Write to me at the address below and I will answer within 30 days. The usage records do not identify you, so I may be unable to tell which ones are yours unless you share the identifier with me.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date.
